Isidro Porqueras to be IndiGo COO from Nov 1; veteran Prock-Schauer to retire

NEW DELHI: IndiGo’s chief of transformation Isidro Porqueras will be the airline’s chief operating officer (COO) from Nov 1, taking over from Wolfgang Prock-Schauer — one of the longest serving expats in Indian carriers who had headed Jet Airways and GoAir in the past. Prock-Schauer was leading the operations at IndiGo since 2018 and will be retiring later this year.
Porqueras has over 25 years experience of leading teams in different areas like operations, commercial, strategy and finance. He joined IndiGo this April. Before that he was COO at Volotea (one of the fastest growing airlines in Europe) and prior to that worked for companies such as McKinsey and Uralita.
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said: “Wolfgang Prock-Schauer has an illustrious aviation career spanning over 40 years. His total tenure in Indian aviation spans over an impressive 15 years.… thank Wolfgang for effectively and successfully leading IndiGo’s operations over these years, including during the difficult Covid pandemic times. He has played a vital role in shaping IndiGo’s operations and has contributed to its sustained growth.”
Elbers added: “We are delighted to welcome Isidro Porqueras in his new role. I am certain that he will be able to contribute to the next chapter of IndiGo’s growth story further significantly. As we move towards the next phase of our ambitious growth plans, Isidro will work closely with the leadership team, to build and prioritise our focus areas. His deep expertise in operations and demonstrated success in previous organisations will be instrumental as we continue to execute our strategic vision and expand business in international markets.”
Porqueras said: “I am very excited and humbled to be a part of IndiGo and to take on this role at such a pivotal moment in its growth journey. I look forward to working with the exceptional team here, to build on the strong foundation laid by Prock-Schauer and to drive innovation and operational success.”
