NEW DELHI: Defence minister Rajnath Singh, during a rally in Dhanbad on Thursday, strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of damaging India’s reputation on the global stage. Singh said, “India’s dignity lowered abroad by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi,” emphasizing that such behavior undermines the country’s international standing.
Singh, while addressing national and economic issues, highlighted India’s rise in the global economy, asserting that “Global economists predict India will become the 3rd top economy by 2027 after the US and China.” He used this to emphasize India’s growing strength and stature, adding that India is no longer a weak nation.Singh warned that anyone who provokes India would face consequences, citing India’s actions in Pakistan as an example of its assertive approach.
The defence minister also turned his focus to Jharkhand politics, where he criticized chief minister Hemant Soren for “pretending to be a martyr” following his imprisonment on corruption charges. He urged voters to remove the JMM-led government, saying, “A corrupt CM cannot lead Jharkhand towards development.” Singh called on the public to give the BJP two consecutive terms to ensure “unparalleled development” and promised that the BJP would “build homes for all within three years.”
Additionally, Singh advocated for the “One Nation, One Election” policy, arguing that it could save the exchequer Rs 4 lakh crore by reducing the frequency of elections, which he claimed cost the country approximately Rs 7 lakh crore.
