Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roundtable meeting with tech Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), including Google‘s chief Sundar Pichai, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, IBM’s Arvind Krishna and Adobe’s Shantanu Narayan, among others in New York. Soon after the event, Pichai said that the company is “proud to now make” Pixel smartphones in India.
“The PM has been focussed on transforming India.It is Digital India vision. He pushed us to continue making in India, designing in India. We are proud to now make our Pixel phones manufactured in India,” Pichai said of PM Modi, as per ANI.

“He challenged us to think about applications in healthcare, education, agriculture and he is also thinking about the infrastructure of India – be it data centres, power, energy and investing to make sure that India can transition. And we are proud to be partnering with India,” the CEO added.

The Google CEO added that PM Modi has pushed the company to do more for India, and now, he is challenging the tech giant to do more AI.
“We are robustly investing in AI in India and we look forward to doing more. We have set several programs and partnerships…He has always challenged all of us to do more, more for India. Now, he is asking us to do the same with AI,” Pichai said.
“He has a clear vision, both in terms of the opportunity that AI will create but he wants to make sure ultimately AI is there to benefit the people of India and he has a clear vision that it should all be in the service of the people of India. He is challenging us to do more,” the CEO added.
The meeting was held at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel during the second day of PM Modi’s three-day US visit.
“Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing aspects relating to technology, innovation and more. Also highlighted the strides made by India in this field. I am glad to see immense optimism towards India,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

His lecherous look, his salacious sneer, and a voice that could range from silken menace to wheedling entreaty were all he needed and no woman his sly stare fell on was safe. With the depredations he committed on-screen, Prem Chopra just had to say his name to establish his notoriety.
In ‘Bobby’ (1973), where Raj Kapoor got him to play a cameo but did not reveal its exact contours, Chopra was dismayed to find that he had just had one dialogue – of half a dozen words.
However, those six words – “Prem naam hai mera, Prem Chopra”, as he clutched the arm of the runaway nubile heroine – made him immortal in Indian films and popular culture. As Chopra recalled in his first-person biography, the dialogue “that I had been unhappy with had made me a brand for life. Overnight it became my trademark, synonymous with me”.
Over three decades later, it resurfaced in Bollywood – delivered by Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, Ajay Devgn in ‘All the Best: Fun Begins’ (both 2009) and Chopra delivered it again in a flashback sequence in ‘Golmaal 3’ (2010).
And in his heyday, Chopra, who turns 89 on this day (September 23), once made the headlines for delaying a Delhi-bound train – due to the same dialogue.
As he recalls, he was returning the Delhi from Dalhousie after shooting for ‘Kala Sona’ (1975) by train, “when the train ticket (TT) inspector and the rest of the staff recognised me” and “must have informed the railway authorities ahead that I was on the train because when we reached the station there was a huge gathering clamouring for me”.
“The TT requested me to come out and wave to the public. When I stepped out, the only thing they wanted of me was to say that one line…The train stopped at every station till we reached Delhi, and I repeated the performance at each stop. The next day the headline in a Delhi newspaper read that the train from Dalhousie to Delhi had been delayed by an hour because of Prem Chopra.”
But, Chopra, who like many other star-struck youths, had dreams of becoming a hero, capitalising on his rakish looks, fair complexion, and acting experience in theatre, found destiny had another pathway for him.
After his first foray into the Bombay film world fizzled out in 1955, he returned in 1960 and did become a hero – in Punjabi film “Chaudhary Karnail Singh” (1960) but never got a big break. Meanwhile, on his father’s advice, he looked for a job and eventually landed up as a supervisor in the Times of India’s circulation department, responsible for eastern India.
It seemed his luck was changing when legendary director Mehboob Khan offered him a key role in his next film but it got stuck due to his illness. In the meantime, Chopra accepted a negative role in “Woh Kaun Thi” (1964) and the supernatural-tinged thriller’s success sealed his fate.
An angry Mehboob Khan told him that he had been impatient and would always remain a villain. However, a major studio chief’s aide asked Chopra if he wanted to be a popular actor, make money, and have a house and a car. As he said yes to all three questions, the actor was advised to forget his hero ambitions and remain a villain.
He took the advice and flourished, getting to play fast and loose – or worse – with Hema Malini, Nutan, Asha Parekh, Sadhana, Saira Bano, Sharmila Tagore, Dimple Kapadia, Zeenat Aman, and Rekha and others. On the other hand, it also meant he was thumped by every male star of his times – Manoj Kumar, Sunil Dutt, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Rajendra Kumar, Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, Rajinikanth, Rishi Kapoor…
Positive roles as Raja Porus’ valorous younger son in ‘Sikander-e-Azam’ and intrepid revolutionary Sukhdev in ‘Shaheed’ (1965) were eclipsed by the heartless lover of ‘Kati Patang’ (1970) or wayward Westernised brat Omkara of ‘Purab Aur Paschim’ (1970), criminal mastermind Drona in ‘Hare Raama Hare Krishna’ (1971), Shambhu Singh of ‘Kranti’ (1981), the scheming businessman of ‘Trishul’ (1978) or ‘Dostana’ (1980), money-minded mine owner Seth Dhanraj in ‘Kala Patthar’ (1979) and more.
However, sometime in the early 1990s, he grew tired of getting beaten up and followed predecessors like Pran into character roles. The truck driver in ‘Bunty and Babli’ (2005), the grandfather in ‘Rocket Singh’ (2009), and the mafia don in ‘Agent Vinod’ (2012) are some examples.
Having the unique record of working with the entire Kapoor family across four generations – from Prithviraj to Kareena and Ranbir, and both generations of Bachchans, Dutts, Deols, and both Khannas (Rajesh and Vinod), Chopra is still to bid adieu to the camera.

NEW DELHI: Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith praised India’s premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, on Monday. Having played 109 Tests, 160 ODIs, and 67 T20Is for Australia, Smith shared his insights on facing Bumrah in various formats.
“He’s a fantastic bowler, whether I’m up against him with the new ball, a slightly older ball, or even the old one,” Smith told Star Sports. “His skills with all types of deliveries are exceptional.He’s arguably the best fast bowler across all three formats, and it’s always a challenge to face him.”
The Indian team is set to embark on a demanding tour of Australia for a five-match Test series starting in November. VARANASI: The two-day national seminar on “Indigenous Cow, Organic Farming and Panchgavya Chikitsa,” jointly organised by the Department of Kayachikitsa, Institute of Medical Science, Banaras Hindu University and Go-vigyan Sansthan, Devlapar, Nagpur, concluded on Sunday.
The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the importance of indigenous cow, cow rearing, and panchgavya medicine.
On the concluding day of the seminar, many keynote speakers addressed the session and presented their views on the preservation and propagation of Ayurveda and Panchgavya Chikitsa.
In his presentation, Dr. Sanjay Wate, Principal, Anurag College of Pharmacy, Bhandara, talked about the effects of gomutra on dermatitis problems. Dr. Wate further advocated for harmony between Ayurveda and Allopathy.
“We need to make a push towards Ayurveda and not just sit back and wait for people to come forward in its support; it’s herculean, but together we can make it,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manish Deshmukh from Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha, introduced a website which is a repository for research on Panchgavya.
The website, NRPAC, has been created to provide a space to publish research papers. As scientists are working on Panchgavya but due to the unavailability of a place to aggregate all the published research papers in one place, they may be working on the same topic.
This website will address that problem as researchers can upload their papers here and let other fellows know the development in that particular area of research.
“When we began research on Panchgavya, we were mocked and referred to as gay-gobar wala scientists, but we kept ahead and many modern science practitioners joined us later,” he said, adding, “Gaay is our mata and Panchgavya is effective, but we need to back the Panchgavya medicine with evidence and research.”
Dr. Pushpahas M. Ballal, professor at Anurag College of Pharmacy, viewed that there should be an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) in Ayurveda research as then only anyone will hesitate to challenge us on this issue. He was speaking in the backdrop of practitioners of modern medicine not prescribing Ayurvedic medicines.
Prof. Anand Chaudhary, Faculty of Ayurveda, BHU, talked about the qualities of different types of bhashma mentioned in Ayurveda and stressed on the daily routine that should be followed for a healthy lifestyle. He further said, “We are striving for a Nobel prize in Ayurveda and if research is continued in this field at this pace, then we may get a Nobel by 2047.”
Prof. Gopal Nath from the Department of Microbiology, BHU, also emphasised the research aspect of Panchgavya Chikitsa and said, “Just because someone said or wrote somewhere about the benefits of Ayurveda, we shouldn’t accept it, we need to research.”
He also talked about water harvesting and said that water harvesting is required to be done around the river Ganga to maintain its flow.
Sunil Mansinghka of Gauvigyan Anusandhan Kendra, Devlapar, who was also hosting the second day of the seminar, reiterated his claim that gomutra has cured even stage-4 cancer. Prof. O. P. Singh of the Department of Kayachikitsa also talked of harmony between Ayurveda and Allopathy.
Dr. Madhav Diggavi of Taranath Govt College, Bellari, talked about the effectiveness of different parts of Panchgavya Chikitsa, including go-ghrit and go-dadhi. Following this, research scholars from across universities of India presented their research papers.
Earlier, the inaugural session was addressed by the former President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday. He emphasised the importance of the long-practised cow rearing tradition of India since ancient times.
He said, “Govansha and milk products have been an integral part of our tradition since ancient times. And today, due to our shift towards chemical farming and the use of pesticides, govansha is compelled to wander around streets and eat plastics. Only we are responsible for this situation as our focus has been more on short-term gains over long-term sustainability. This is causing a grave effect on our health as well.”
