Big E has been sidelined due to a serious neck injury, and during his absence, tensions have been brewing within his faction, The New Day, which seems to be on the verge of splitting. In a recent interview with Sports Talk Philly, Big E opened up about the growing strain between his New Day teammates, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston.
Big E Stated :
“We’ve had a long run. Ten years is a very long time. We’ve been guys where you’ve never really seen any tension from us, but Kofi and Woods right now are going through a bit of turmoil.”
“I think that happens in any marriage, whether it’s a long-lasting one or not. But that’s how people approach being a team together: it feels very much like a marriage in the way you communicate, and sometimes you’re not always on the same page.”
“I don’t know exactly what he’s alluding to. I’ve for the most part been hands-off with what those guys are going through right now.”
“I’m still very connected, but it’s one of those things where I don’t want to meddle or be involved if I’m not asked to be involved. I’m hopeful that whatever they are going through they will figure out.” (Via Sports Talk Philly)
As the 10th anniversary of The New Day approaches, Big E reflected on the team’s journey and stated:
“We spent a decade together, even at a time when no one foresaw us doing these incredible things.”
“The only reason we made it through the tough times in 2014 and 2015 was because we stuck together. It was us against everyone that stood in our way.”
“So I hope more than anything that those guys always remember why we started this, why we came together and how much we care about each other.”
“Ultimately, that’s really what matters, even when we’re done wrestling. It’s a friendship and a bond that will survive long past our in-ring days, and I hope they never forget that.” (Via Sports Talk Philly)

Olympiad win a promising start but a long way to go for women’s chess in India, says Viswanathan Anand |

Olympiad win a promising start but a long way to go for women's chess in India, says Viswanathan Anand

MUMBAI: Overjoyed by India’s remarkable dual triumph at the Chess Olympiad, five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand said that while this marks a promising beginning, there is still much work to be done for women’s chess in the country.
India scripted history on Sunday as both its men’s and women’s teams secured their first-ever titles, achieving a remarkable clean sweep of gold medals at the Chess Olympiad.
But while in recent times, the men’s game has surged in popularity with young Indian talents like R Praggnanandhaa and D Gukesh making waves on the world stage, in contrast, the women’s game has struggled to match this trajectory.
“It’s a very good beginning. I think still a long way to go because we must continuously keep progressing,” Anand told PTI, at the sidelines of Tech Mahindra Global Chess League.
“And more important, get more and more girls to play and I think exactly this result will inspire more girls to play, and that is the hope,” he added.
The 54-year-old chess icon who has inspired the current young crop of chess players creating a splash on the global stage was delighted to witness history being created by them.
“First of all that, great pride that it had happened. It’s not like the result caught me by surprise, It had been the case for a couple of hours already, so you prepare yourself.”
“But you’re happy to suddenly realize that you’re double Olympiad champion, I know all of them for many, many years, and there’s also the feeling of being with friends who had great success.”
“I personally enjoyed being there. I enjoyed listening to the anthems two times. And I knew that the whole world kind of took notice of India’s performance,” he added.
Although India’s performance at the Olympiad is commendable, Anand warned that other teams will analyze their results and return even stronger.
“Depending on which metric you use, you can say India is number one or number two or number three maximum,” he said when asked how long will it take for India to reach the level of Russia, USA and China.
“But look, every country goes back and learns lessons and so the other teams will take their disappointment, they’ll go back and they’ll come back stronger.
“That’s how sport is. I don’t think success is assured for us. But we’ve got fantastic players who are going to compete for the best events for the next decade at least.
Anand feels that to continue the recent success momentum of chess in the country, India must tap into the talent at the grassroot level.
“First, grow the game. Increase the base of the pyramid, so to speak. And support players at all levels. Events like the Global Chess League play a big part in that because they give a lot of people opportunities.
“Unexpectedly, you might play a much bigger role than you expected. Teams victory, all these things will boost. But we want many more things like that to happen,” he added.
Anand will be in action in the Global Chess League from October 3 to 12 in London where he will turn out for the Ganges Grandmasters.
Talking about the league he said “I enjoyed the first league very much and I’m looking forward to the second. I’ve played in London many, many times and I’m quite excited about it. What do I think will be the result? Obviously, I hope that we will first qualify for the final and then win it.”

Munna Lohra, who resides in Ranchi’s Hatia area, has gained attention for his striking resemblance to Hemant Soren.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren met his lookalike at his residence today. The Chief Minister’s doppelganger, Munna Lohra, a theatre artist from Ranchi, had the opportunity to meet Soren after gaining attention for his striking resemblance to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader.

Photos of their meeting were later shared on the Chief Minister’s official X (formerly Twitter) account with the caption, “Meeting of one Hemant with another Hemant. I met and had a long conversation with renowned theatre artist Mr. Munna Lohara and his family.”

This meeting comes just days after Munna Lohra, in an interview with News18, expressed his hope of meeting the Chief Minister. Asked if Hemant Soren was aware of their resemblance, he humorously responded, “I’m not sure if he knows yet, but people say he has found out. I haven’t had the chance to meet him, but I wish he would invite me and we could have a conversation.”

He added with a smile, “Given the current situation, I wear a helmet when I go to the vegetable shop so people don’t mistake me for the Chief Minister and say, ‘Hemant Soren has come to buy vegetables.’”

Just five days later, Hemant Soren extended a personal invitation to Munna Lohra, fulfilling his wish to meet the Chief Minister.

During the meeting, Lohra revealed to the Chief Minister that he considers himself fortunate to look like him and admires him greatly. He considers him an idol, he said.

Lohra also brought up the challenges faced by theatre artists in Jharkhand. Hemant Soren assured him that the government was committed to improving conditions for these artists and hinted at new policies that would offer them greater support. “I have seen theatre artistes from close and I am aware of their problems. In the coming days, I will work to provide them with a better platform. Jharkhand’s artistes and sportspersons are very talented. They have made the state proud on many occasions. We will bring a policy so that theatre artistes can live with dignity,” the Chief Minister said.

Their uncanny resemblance has taken the internet by storm.

A user shared a picture of the duo and humorously asked, “Who is the real one?”

Another joked, “When Hemant Da @HemantSorenJMM takes oath as Chief Minister again, please make the second Hemant Ji sit in the front row.”

The confusion didn’t stop there, with more users commenting on their striking similarity. “Who’s real and who’s fake? It’s hard to tell,” read one comment , while another user simply said, “Extremely matching lookalike.”

A user noted that they looked like “twins brothers.”

Hemant Soren is gearing up for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, set to take place later this year.

Wiser with experience, Jeevan looks to build on Hangzhou title

Wiser with experience, Jeevan looks to build on Hangzhou title

For Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, the ATP Tour doubles title in Hangzhou marks a sort of Jeev 2.0 — not only has his game has matured and become more solid since he won his maiden title at his home town of Chennai, but he is also able to understand better the significance of triumph and what it means to his career going forward.
The 35-year-old left-hander claimed the ATP 250 Series event in Hangzhou, China, in the company of his friend and fellow Tamil Nadu player Vijay Sundar Prashanth, beating Constantin Frantzen and Hendrik Jebens of Germany 4-6, 7-6 (5), 10-7 in the hard-court final on Sunday.
Jeevan’s first title had come in 2017 at the Chennai Open in the company of veteran Davis Cupper and Australian Open Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna.
“I think (I am) a little bit more experienced. I remember the first title was a little sooner than I thought,” Jeevan, who has climbed 27 spots on the ATP ladder to be ranked 86 in doubles, told The Times of India.
“After switching to doubles, Rohan and I had won Chennai in 2017 and I didn’t really know where that title was going to take me, you know.
“I was just kind of excited to be playing Grand Slams, because that title happened to push me into the top 100. And ironically, this title has also pushed me into the top 100.
“But I would say, (in) 2017 I was kind of naive without any real path to move forward after achieving a 250 title. But now, I’m feeling much calmer after winning a title of this stage, because I have a set partner and I have schedule which works in our favour.
“And I’m healthy, I’m able to see that there is definitely going to be an exciting path to be playing with the same partner and consistently at a higher level.”
It has been an eventful year for him so far, and Jeevan, wiser with experience, feels things are falling in place for him.
“This year has not been very easy, there have been a lot of ups and downs. But very happy to be playing with Vijay, who’s one of my closest friends, not just on tour, but in life,” he said.
“We’ve been patient as a team. We’ve been learning how to get to our best ability together.
“As the as far as the emotions are concerned, I think in goal setting, it was very clear for me that this was going to be the year for me to build something, because I’m always looking at long term with my partners.
“I have only played with a handful of people my whole career. So with Vijay, we are just building something to give ourselves an opportunity to be, you know, a set team in the Grand Slams next year.”
A long-term partnership has become a rare phenomenon in modern doubles and Jeevan looks at it practically.
“A lot of teams are looking to build partnerships together. You can see (that) even with the Double Dream of India. So many teams are sticking together, and we’re just trying to figure out what best combinations are going to get us all into the Grand Slams,” he said.
“Today was a good day for Vijay and me, but the season has been good for Balaji and even Yuki has been doing very well.
“The ideal goal for this program is to see all the players sitting at the Slam, taking a group picture.”

Tired Of Rodents? Alum May Be The Key To A Rat-free Home, Says Expert

By purchasing alum for around Rs.10, you can grind it into powder.

By purchasing alum for around Rs.10, you can grind it into powder.

Rats can cause significant damage by contaminating food, chewing through materials and spreading diseases.

Despite our culture being all about revering our guests, there is always a guest no one wants and we are talking about rodents. A rat infestation is the worst that could happen to the upkeep of your home. Rats and mice can infest various parts of a home, including sheds, garages, attics, vehicles like lawnmowers and cars, as well as items like barbecue grills. They aren’t selective about where they settle as long as the environment is warm, dry and comfortable. Rats can cause significant damage by contaminating food, chewing through materials and spreading diseases through their urine, saliva and droppings. Keeping these pests out is crucial for maintaining a safe and healthy living environment.

In this context, Arun Kumar Singh, spokesperson of the science department at SBVP College in Shivgarh, Raebareli district, said that most of the people are suffering from mice infestation in their homes. According to him, using alum as a repellent is a simple and inexpensive method to deter rats. By purchasing alum for around Rs.10, you can either grind it into a powder or dissolve it into a solution. Sprinkling the powder or spraying the solution in areas where rats frequent—like attics, garages, or other spaces—can help keep them away. Alum has properties that may repel rats and if done regularly, this method could assist in driving them out of your home.

To use alum as a rat repellent, you can follow these simple steps:

  1. Grind the alum into powder: Break the alum into small pieces and grind it into a fine powder.
  2. Prepare the solution: Take the alum powder and mix it with water in a bottle to create a solution.
  3. Application: Spray the alum solution in areas where you’ve noticed rat activity or potential infestation spots around your house, such as the attic, garage, or kitchen. Alternatively, you can sprinkle the powder directly in these areas for the same effect.

This method is said to help repel rats and prevent them from coming back, keeping your home free from infestations.

Sugar industry urges Centre to raise MSP, hike price of ethanol

Sugar industry urges Centre to raise MSP, hike price of ethanol

NEW DELHI: The Indian Sugar Mills Association has urged the Centre to revise and increase ethanol prices along with the rationalisation and reduction of tax imposed on Flex Fuel Vehicles.
It also raised a demand to increase the MSP or the minimum selling price of sugar from the existing Rs 31 per kg.
The association has projected that sugar production for current year is expected to be 33.3 million tonnes.
Addressing the Sugar Summit, food secretary Sanjeev Chopra said better production is expected this year because of the good monsoon.
“Sugar prices in India have been stable and cane arrears for farmers is at the lowest. Nearly 97% of cane due has been cleared. We are looking at overall blending for the current year at 15 per cent,” Chopra added.
Meanwhile, the food minister on Thursday announced that India is considering raising domestic prices of ethanol and sugar, as the country seeks to boost local supplies.
India is one of the world’s biggest sugar producer, second only to Brazil, and is planning to extend a sugar export ban and raise the price at which oil companies buy ethanol from sugar mills.
