Two Hemant Sorens? Jharkhand Chief Minister Meets His Lookalike

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren met his lookalike at his residence today. The Chief Minister’s doppelganger, Munna Lohra, a theatre artist from Ranchi, had the opportunity to meet Soren after gaining attention for his striking resemblance to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader.

Photos of their meeting were later shared on the Chief Minister’s official X (formerly Twitter) account with the caption, “Meeting of one Hemant with another Hemant. I met and had a long conversation with renowned theatre artist Mr. Munna Lohara and his family.”

This meeting comes just days after Munna Lohra, in an interview with News18, expressed his hope of meeting the Chief Minister. Asked if Hemant Soren was aware of their resemblance, he humorously responded, “I’m not sure if he knows yet, but people say he has found out. I haven’t had the chance to meet him, but I wish he would invite me and we could have a conversation.”

He added with a smile, “Given the current situation, I wear a helmet when I go to the vegetable shop so people don’t mistake me for the Chief Minister and say, ‘Hemant Soren has come to buy vegetables.’”

Just five days later, Hemant Soren extended a personal invitation to Munna Lohra, fulfilling his wish to meet the Chief Minister.

During the meeting, Lohra revealed to the Chief Minister that he considers himself fortunate to look like him and admires him greatly. He considers him an idol, he said.

Lohra also brought up the challenges faced by theatre artists in Jharkhand. Hemant Soren assured him that the government was committed to improving conditions for these artists and hinted at new policies that would offer them greater support. “I have seen theatre artistes from close and I am aware of their problems. In the coming days, I will work to provide them with a better platform. Jharkhand’s artistes and sportspersons are very talented. They have made the state proud on many occasions. We will bring a policy so that theatre artistes can live with dignity,” the Chief Minister said.

Their uncanny resemblance has taken the internet by storm.

A user shared a picture of the duo and humorously asked, “Who is the real one?”

Another joked, “When Hemant Da @HemantSorenJMM takes oath as Chief Minister again, please make the second Hemant Ji sit in the front row.”

The confusion didn’t stop there, with more users commenting on their striking similarity. “Who’s real and who’s fake? It’s hard to tell,” read one comment , while another user simply said, “Extremely matching lookalike.”

A user noted that they looked like “twins brothers.”

Hemant Soren is gearing up for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, set to take place later this year.
