Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Wednesday carried out a late-night demolition of a dilapidated building located in Kundan Nagar, falling under Zone 21.
The action is part of an ongoing drive to remove all dilapidated and hazardous structures in the city, IMC Commissioner Shivam Verma said, adding that the three-storied building in Kundan Nagar had leaned significantly, posing a grave threat to the safety of nearby residents.“Given the imminent danger, the Municipal Corporation’s removal team swiftly mobilised to execute the demolition,” he said.
The night-long operation to raze down the tilted building was carried out under the supervision of IMC Additional Commissioner Rohit Sisoniya and other officials concerned.
“The demolition was conducted under bright halogen lights, with stringent safety measures in place. The Municipal Corporation’s efficiency and preparedness prevented a potential disaster and ensured the safety of the local community,” Sisoniya said.
Basements sealed for illegal use
Indore: Continuing its crackdown against the illegal use of basements, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Thursday sealed three such parking spaces that were being used for commercial purposes.
According to IMC officials, they found three basements, including that of South Tukoganj situated Shanti Heights, where a private bank’s locker room was created. The basements of Modi Tower and Shyam Tower were also sealed for using the same as an eye clinic and Ayurvedic Spa, respectively.
IMC officials said that they had identified around 1,000 basements being used for different purposes, other than parking, and thus, the owners/occupants were given time till September 15 to shut the same and keep the space only to park vehicles. Now, the action to seal the basements has been initiated against the errant owners/occupants for failing to follow the instructions. District administration also sealed seven basements for the same violtion during the day.
