India’s off-road SUV scene has recently gotten more practical, with popular 4×4 models now available in five-door versions. Among the top contenders are the Mahindra Thar Roxx, Force Gurkha, and Maruti Suzuki Jimny. With the added utility of extra doors, these rugged SUVs now cater to both adventure seekers and family buyers. Recently, Mahindra has released the pricing structure of the 4×4 versions of the Thar Roxx and here, let’s take a look at how it stacks up against the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha in terms of engine specs and prices.

Mahindra Thar Roxx 4WD: Engine and prices

Mahindra has expanded its Thar lineup with the introduction of the Thar Roxx 4WD variants, starting at an introductory price of Rs 18.79 lakh, ex-showroom. The Thar Roxx is only available with a 2.2-litre diesel engine in the 4×4 configuration, offering buyers a choice between a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission. The manual version produces 150 hp and 330 Nm of torque, while the automatic delivers 173 hp and 370 Nm.
In terms of pricing, the Thar Roxx diesel variants start with the MX5 MT, priced at Rs 18.79 lakh. The mid-spec AX5L MT variant comes in at Rs 20.99 lakh, offering more features and versatility. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line AX7L MT shares the same Rs 20.99 lakh price tag, with the automatic version priced at Rs 22.49 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

Force Gurkha 5-Door: Engine and prices

The five-door Force Gurkha keeps things old-school in a sole diesel-manual combo. It is powered by a 2.6-litre diesel engine that produces 132 hp and 320 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The five-door Force Gurkha is priced competitively at Rs 18 lakh, ex-showroom.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Engine and prices

Under the hood, the Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine that produces 105 hp and 134 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to pricing, the Jimny Zeta MT starts at Rs 12.74 lakh, while the automatic Zeta AT is priced at Rs 13.84 lakh. The top-spec Alpha trim costs Rs 13.69 lakh for the manual and Rs 14.79 lakh for the automatic version (all prices ex-showroom).
