A documentary series chronicling the life and career of the diabolical ex-chairman of WWE Vince McMahon, was released on 25th of September. The Netflix docuseries titled “Mr. McMahon” is garnering all sorts of reactions from the audience and is one of the more discussed topics around the Pro Wrestling Industry. While it has definitely garnered a lot of attention towards it, specially in the last week, will it be considered the best WWE documentary of all time? That’s a question only time shall answer
Mr. McMahon Blasts the Creators
Interestingly, Vince McMahon himself denounced the documentary, just a few days prior to its release on the streaming platform, “Netflix”, lambasting its creators and director for distorting the actual purpose of the documentary.Mr. McMahon tweeted that the makers have taken the obvious and easy path of misleading the audience and directed the character of “Mr. McMahon”, according to their own wishes. He also accused the makers of misrepresenting the facts and leaving out certain truthful statements given by him, in order to project an image of him. Whether he’s telling the truth or just saving his face, is for the audience to decide, but there have been certain revelations in the documentary that do make it spicy and worthy of watching it.
What Is Revealed in The Series
In the documentary, Mr. McMahon has talked about a plethora of controversial topics that have surrounded him throughout his journey as the boss of WWE. He has talked about the accusations against him regarding Chris Benoit’s suicide case, wrestlers taking steroids to pump up their bodies and also about him continuing the show even after Owen Hart’s unfortunate death in the ring. There was also a mention about the “Montreal ScrewJob” and other instances of McMahon orchestrating screw jobs against several superstars. These were some of the untouched topics that every WWE fan has forever wanted answers for and McMahon has touched on these topics without giving any detailed answers or justification about them. The series does provide a lot of insights from the 1990s and early 2010s but doesn’t completely dwell into the above mentioned controversies.
Is It The Best WWE Documentary
Now, there have been a lot of WWE documentaries that have been fairly successful and honest. For example “Ladies and Gentlemen, My Name is Paul Heyman”, a documentary about the controversial manager of WWE Paul Heyman was highly liked by the audience. Similarly a docu-series about CM Punk named “ CM Punk Best In The World” was released in 2012 and was critically acclaimed and liked by the fans. A documentary named “Dark Side of the Ring” released in 2019, that touched on several controversial topics around pro wrestling and WWE. And was appreciated for its honest take. If we talk about honesty, this series is definitely one of the top documentary series to have ever been produced about WWE. But does it answer all the Questions raised on its former owner?
