Kurt Angle Considers WWE Return as Manager for Chad Gable | WWE News


WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has been repeatedly asked if he would consider returning to the company as an on-screen manager after he decided to step away from in-ring competition in 2019. Due to their many similarities, both fans and analysts frequently bring up Chad Gable as a possible manager for Angle. Olympic wrestling holds a special place in the hearts of Angle and Gable, with the latter’s character frequently being compared to Angle’s own image throughout his career.

“If the money was right, I think Chad and his gang that he has right now, that would be a great idea,” Angle said during the interview. “I got approached by WWE when Matt Riddle started, and they wanted me to manage him, but the offer was just … it wasn’t worth it. Unfortunately, you know, I love the business, but you also have to be a businessman, and you have to make the right decisions for your family.”

Angle also touched on the physical demands of returning as a manager. While he acknowledged that an in-ring match is not feasible at this point in his life, he expressed openness to getting involved physically in a lighter capacity if the opportunity arose.

Former WWE star Matt Riddle almost had WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle as his manager, but the deal fell through due to financial disagreements. On an episode of “The Kurt Angle Show” podcast, Angle revealed that after his 2020 WWE release, he was offered the chance to manage Riddle on-screen. However, Angle declined, stating that the money offered wasn’t sufficient.
Riddle recalled the discussion and expressed understanding of Angle’s decision, explaining that the grueling travel schedule in WWE can be the hardest part, even for managers. The two shared the ring once, when Angle was a special guest referee for Riddle’s match in WWE NXT. Shortly after, Angle announced Riddle’s move to the main roster.
