Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has shared a story about his daughter’s aspirations. In a recent interview, the tech billionaire revealed how his seven-year-old daughter expressed her dream of becoming a pop sensation like Taylor Swift. However, Zuckerberg admitted to swiftly discouraging her ambition, suggesting it was an unrealistic goal. Interestingly, Zuckerberg himself is a fan of Swift and even treated his family to a concert.

What Zuckerberg said to her daughter

In a recent interview that appeared on the “Acquired” podcast on Spotify, Zuckerberg recounted an instance where he shot down his middle child’s aspirations of emulating the global pop star, Taylor Swift.
Zuckerberg shared this instance when hosts Ben Gilbert and David Rosenthal asked for his advice on upcoming founders. To explain, he said: “One time we took our daughter to a Taylor Swift concert and she was like ‘You know dad I kinda wanna be like Taylor Swift when I grow up.’ I was like ‘No, you can’t. That’s not available to you.’ She thought about it and she was like ‘Alright! When I grow up I want people to be like August Chen Zuckerberg.’ And I was like ‘Hell yeah’.”

Zuckerberg on Meta not following Apple’s policy

In the same interview, Zuckerberg also talked about how Meta’s culture of prioritising speed-to-market is different from Apple’s culture of prioritising product perfection. He said: “There are a lot of conversations that we have internally where you’re almost at the line of being embarrassed about what you put out. You want to put stuff out early enough so you can get good feedback.”
When one of the hosts asked about the damage that does to the brand, Zuckerberg noted: “I would like to hope it’s damaging to the brand. We don’t ship things we think are bad. But we want to make sure we’re shipping things that are early enough that we can get good feedback to see what they’re going to be most used for.”
